Abu Dhabi may be a very small city and away from UAE’s main attraction, ‘Dubai’, but being the capital of UAE, it has got many spots to spend your weekend at.
Sheikh Zayed Mosque
Since the first day of the weekend in UAE is a Friday, so you can visit the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. It has been built in the memory of Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan as it is his burial site. It consists of mesmerizing architectural work and is the world’s largest mosque. It can allow at least 41,000 worshippers at once. The floor of the mosque is covered by the world’s largest hand woven carpet. The roofs are decorated with 24 carat gold gilded chandeliers.
If you are a Muslim then you can attend the Friday Sermon and Prayer. If you are a non-Muslim then you can visit around and explore the mosque after taking a basic bath.
Once you are done with the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, you can go for something fun and thrilling such as the Ferrari World or the Yas Water World.
Ferrari World
Ferrari World is the world’s first Ferrari theme park and it is made to be suitable for all ages. Your weekend in Abu Dhabi will never be a bore if you spend a few hours or the whole day at the Ferrari World. The rides there are not just for fun sake but apart from that they are also educative in the sense, that these rides portray the story of the Ferrari. Hence this increases one’s knowledge. If you are a fan of cars and love to collect information about different cars and their companies then you ought to visit this place. Along with fun filled rides, Ferrari World also includes the shopping and dining area.
Yas Water World
This place will take your whole day and to get the most out of your ticket you should arrive there early morning. Its summer timings are from 10 am to 8 pm and winter timings are from 10 am to 6 pm. As the name suggest, the Yas Water World is a complete water park where you not only get to swim around but also shoot jets of water at your target, drop water bombs or spray water at people.
Al Wahda Mall
Spending your weekend in Abu Dhabi and not checking out the posh malls will be unfair to your trip. You can start with the Al Wahda Mall which is near the Central Bus Stop. The mall is very spacious which attracts a lot of visitors. There are a ranged of shops to do your shopping from and the food court will give you a wide range of choice to eat from.
Mushrif Mall
It is just a five minutes ride from the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. It’s a three storey huge mall. The mall has got luxury fashion items, electronic goods as well as furniture. The specialty about Mushrif Mall is that it has got Arabia’s largest food court.
Al Badiya Restaurant
Once you are done with all the thrill and fun activity, you would surely want to fill up your stomach. If you don’t like to eat in the mall due to the noisy environment, then you can head to Al Badiya Restaurant for some relaxing buffet dinner in Arabic style with live cooking counter and caving station.
So your weekend in Abu Dhabi will not be a waste if you visit these places. In case you don’t get to visit them all in one trip, there can always be another weekend in Abu Dhabi.
