Dubai-based artists Arcade 82 and Consoul Trainin will also be seen performing LIVE on 27th October at the Dubai Autism Rocks Arena.
“Shut Up () we are so excited to be adding one of the most in demand rap, grime and hip hop artists to our festival and know the regional fans will share our excitement as we have had thousands of requests, emails and calls asking us to feature Stormzy at the event” says CEO of 117Live Thomas Ovesen, “Just looking at his various collaborations with other stars you can see the reach of Stormzy and so we feel he fits perfectly with the other festival talents, spanning various genres and age groups and for what will be a fantastic, spooky yet fun Halloween themed night out at the Autism Rocks Arena on October 27th.”
Best known for his top 10 UK hit single ‘Shut up’ which rapidly rose up the charts at the end of 2015 having been initially released as a freestyle on YouTube, Stormzy has been cited as redefining the British music scene. His debut album Gangs Signs & Prayer, launched earlier this year, was the first grime album to reach number one on the UK Album Chart which debuted on BBC radio channels to much acclaim. No stranger to the festival scene having played a successful set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, 2017 saw the rapper collaborate with the Californian Nu metal band, Linkin Park on ‘Good Goodbye’ elevating the track to be one of the strongest on the entire album. Such is his energy, Stormzy commands collaborations with industry heavyweights including Ghetts, Chip and Wretch 32 and has performed on numerous occasions with the multi-award winning British singer-songwriter, Ed Shereen for their remix of the chart-topping hit ‘Shape of You’. He was also among the 50 stars featured on Simon Cowell’s recent Grenfell Tower charity single in tribute to the victims of the fire disaster.
