Dubai, UAE 6 September, 2016: The Huddle Sports Bar & Grill, located at both Citymax Al Barsha and Bur Dubai are official record-breakers with a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title achieved last night, Monday 5 September 2016.
Known for its exciting food and beverage menu, popular weekly offerings and live music, the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt was to achieve the “LONGEST DOMINO DROP SHOT”, in celebration of the venues fifth anniversary.
The previous record stood at 4,107 shots, held by Señor Frogs bar in the Bahamas and The Huddle’s goal was to exceed this amount with a total of 6,148 drop shots. Taking place at The Huddle Bar & Grill, Bur Dubai, the setup time for the record attempt took over 22 hours, with several months of preparations and practice runs with The Huddles Bar team.
Ahmed Taher, F&B Manager for Citymax Bur Dubai stated; “There is a significant amount of preparation and planning that goes into achieving a record of this size and nature. If the glasses aren’t perfectly aligned or pushed at the right angles, it can all go wrong. It’s the Huddles fifth anniversary year and we wanted to mark the occasion with an event that celebrates who we are as a brand and team, achieving the near impossible with our creative bar staff and putting The Huddle on the map!”
The tension built as spectators nervously watched the record attempt, including regional media; VIPs from Landmark Group and Huddle regulars from both Bur Dubai and Al Barsha venues. Making the first push at 11.55pm, Ahmad Taher, eagerly started the domino drop shot where a total of 6,148 shot glasses perched atop 6,148 high ball glasses, one by one knocked over in the perfect domino effect.
After completion of the Domino Drop Shot and two hours of counting later, the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator announced 4,578 correctly fallen shot glasses, confirming The Huddles success at achieving the 130th world record win in Dubai.
A Domino Drop Shot can be described as a specially made track with thousands of half-full beverage glasses, with delicately balanced shots atop forming an unbroken chain. To start, the first shot is pushed into the first glass, which sets off a chain reaction of cascading glasses and a record number of drop shots.
