Seen is a line of abayas, kaftans and apparel by Emirati entrepreneur Sumayyah Al Suwaidi. Seen, which means the letter “S” in Arabic, first launched in 2011 with a fashion show in Mall of the Emirates. It was followed by another at London Fashion Week in 2012 and a third at Miami Fashion Week last year.
In 2007, Sumayyah Al Suwaidi started curating art exhibitions and built a name in event organising. Later she organized Abu Dhabi Fashion Days, a four day event featuring local fashion designers.
Sumayyah Al Suwaidi is a digital artist whose passion drives her to manipulating seemingly normal and boring photographs into masterpieces of emotions and sensuality. A giant in a small body, Sumayyah moves the skies, stretches the oceans and elevates humans to the clouds, and in it all brings out beauty in whatever painting she decides to bring to life.
She is the first female digital artist from the UAE. Her first series of paintings were in 2001 for his highness the late sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Exhibited her paintings across the UAE, and internationally at Emirati Visions in Berlin. She has done workshops and gave lectures to many art students. Moreover, she is the curator of Ramadan Art Bazaar an annual art exhibition at Ghaf Gallery to help common people in buying original art works at very reasonable prices. She was also the project manager and curator of Lights in Harmony the Emirati Photography Competition and a judge in the Al Mutahida art competition for university students on a national scale. Finally she was mentioned in various broadcasting TV channels and radio stations such as Dubai One, Abu Dhabi Emirates Channel, Sama Dubai and Rotana TV and internationally on SBS (Special Broadcasting Service) a German Radio Station in Australia and written about in various magazines and newspapers locally and internationally.
