International accessories brand Baraboux has joined forces with the Khatt Foundation to unveil an exciting Arabic typography competition. Labelled Letters to Wear, the design competition provides designers with the opportunity to create a set of Arabic letters that if selected, will be turned into bag charms for the Saudi accessory brand. The winner will be selected from a judging panel composed of regional Arabic typography specialists. They will also receive a prize of AED/SAR 45,745 (€ $10,000).
The competition, which bring together the worlds of design, fashion, art and typography, serves to encourage regionally-based aspiring designers. The chosen designer, in addition to other notable entries, will be exhibited at the next edition of Design Days Dubai from March 16-20, 2015, supported by a design talk around the subject of Arabic language in fashion and product design.
The design competition will be curated and juried by a select group of designers, artists and savvy style leaders from the region. These include Baraboux’s HRH Princess Reema Bandar Al Saud, Creative Director of the Khatt Foundation, Huda Smitshuijzen AbiFares, artist and jewelry designer Nadine Kanso, eL Seed, the Tunisian graffiti artist and designer Rana Salam.
