Travel and stay packages unveiled for Vivaldianno – City of Mirrors Spectacular
Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: Travel and hospitality stakeholders serving Ras Al Khaimah are looking to strike a chord with music lovers throughout the Emirates as classical aficionados ready for the country’s highest musical performance.
With interest in Ras Al Khaimah’s Vivaldianno event – to be staged October 27 atop Jebel Jais, the UAE’s tallest peak and a signature landmark of the Hajar Mountains – running high, the emirate’s luxury hotels and transport providers have composed a range of packages to make it a weekend to remember.
Private hire company UBER is making getting to the unique venue a breeze with a promotional code – VivaldiannoRAK – available from October 27 offering a roundtrip return service to the venue from Dubai at AED575 with split rider fares accepted.
Ras al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), which organised the event, has announced that roads to Jebel Jais will be closed on the day of the spectacular, which starts at 7pm. Ticket holders will be able to park in a dedicated car park at the foot of Jebel Jais, and taken by special shuttle busses to the concert site. Anticipating early take up of seats with guests looking to enjoy sunset drinks and refreshments from the venue, doors will open at 4.30pm with doors closing at 6.45pm. Last shuttles will leave the car park at 6:30pm.
“Tremendous detail has gone into the planning of this event which is historic in its scope for the UAE,” said Haitham Mattar, CEO, RAKTDA. “We are pushing the boundaries in our efforts to enhance Ras Al Khaimah’s visitor experience,” added Mattar. “Vivaldianno is a first for the UAE and offers up a genuine sensory overload at one of the emirate’s most iconic landmarks.”
Vivaldianno – City of Mirrors is a global sensation devised by award-winning Czech musician and film composer, Michal Dvořák. The 3D spectacular, which fuses the Baroque masterpieces and compositions of Italian Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi with visual effects and light shows, is a dynamo of contemporary energy.
The one-off event is part of RAKTDA’s goal of developing lifestyle entertainment across the emirate. Set at 1,600 metres above sea level, the dazzling live performance will be attended by His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and other dignitaries.
Significant planning is going into the spectacular which will assemble a large orchestra to cover classical and art-rock instrumentation on a specially-constructed mountain stage. Featuring large-format projections in front of and behind the performance areas, the show will boast a complex and sophisticated light design utilising cutting-edge technologies to create an unequalled 3D musical experience. The cast of renowned musicians from all over the world will be supported by complex imagery and choreography, breathing new life and colour into masterpieces including Vivaldi’s total-recall violin concerti The Four Seasons.
The event producer Michal Dvořák has promised classical fans to stick to the original score, while introducing modern twists of which he’s sure Vivaldi himself would approve. “We are adding modern instruments the way Antonio himself might have included them. The show strives to enforce and emphasise the original music in a contemporary means of expression.”
“This is probably the first time that Jebel Jais will host Four Seasons as opposed to the traditional summer/winter two season cycle of the UAE,” said Mattar. “While it is classical in nature, it is modernistic in style, so the dress code has been set contemporary as smart casual. We would ask though that no shorts are worn and a word of advice to event-goers would be to carry something warm – it can get a little chilly up there in the mountain in October.”
Tickets for the one-night-only performance start from AED300 and are available through Virgin Tickets, and Platinum List. In addition to the Jebel Jais car park, ticket holders can reach the concert via free shuttle buses from Ras Al Khaimah Convention Centre on Marjan Island, Al Hamra Convention Centre and Hilton Garden Inn, Ras Al Khaimah. Two buses will leave each venue at 4:00pm and 4:30pm.
Vivaldianno is being staged in partnership with Marjan Island and with the sponsorship of Stevin Rock and RAK Rock. Event details available on RAKTDA’s website https://jebeljais.ae/events/.
