The Underground culture of Dubai and UAE is set to boost again. A new underground club Square is set to open in Dubai on May 21. ‘Square’ will open at JW Marriott Marquis on Sheikh Zayed Road, the tallest hotel in the world, on May 21, and hopes to showcase the best of both the local and international scene. The official has not revealed much information about the club but it is confirmed that the great Berlin influence will be evidently seen there.
With that in mind, launch night sees Reboot, a German techno DJ described as ‘ both darkly emphatic and dazzlingly polyrhythmic’, take to the decks.
The Noon boss, real name Frank Heinrich, uses classic house, world music, rock and roll, and even jazz in his deep productions, and has packed out world famous venues like Fabric, Cocoon, Womb and D-Edge in the last few years. With almost 100,000 fans on Facebook, he’s also played festivals like Stereosonic, Electric Zoo, Zouk, Creamfields and the Winter Music Conference. His debut album, ‘Shunyata’ was an instant hit, as have been tracks ‘Be Tougher’ and ‘Caminando’. They promised a lot on this underground club.
Square’s launch comes at a time when Dubai’s underground scene is also flourishing, thanks in part to the support offered it by our friends at Hype, as well as the ambitions of a generation keen to stamp their own home-grown authority on the landscape. No official images have been released of the venue, yet, but the pictures on Square’s official Facebook (above) certainly suggest a dark and moody evening awaits in the underground club.
The underground club will have some outstanding music experience with ultimate scores playing around the underground club from the best performers. The experience is going to be dark and ultimate as promised by the underground club officials.
