Fancy a pair of lightly worn Chloé mules for just Dh225, or a spanking new pair of pink Adidas Superstars for Dh400? A new fashion app has launched in the UAE, in association with Dubizzle. Created by Tariq Zaiban and Alex Hutley, it’s called Shedd, and it allows users to buy and sell preloved designer items, as well as pieces that have never been worn before.
Like Instagram, the app lets you post images, edit filters, comment and use hashtags. Users’ pages are ranked according to the rarity of the items that they post, the quality of their images and their descriptions.
Buyers contact the sellers directly, and can chat with them to discuss prices and pickups. Buyers can also filter items as they browse, to find sellers who are nearby. If users prefer not to participate in face-to-face trade, they can make payments through PayPal instead.
Shedd is also working with regional emerging designers to give them a platform on which to sell their clothing and accessories. The app is free of charge, downloadable here at the Apple iTunes App Store. It will be coming soon to the Google Play App store for Android phones.
