TOP INDIAN RESTAURANT HOSTS INDIAN FOOD FESTIVAL

April 26, 2017 by UAE Style Magazine Leave a Comment

For those who wish to sample the famed curries of the Chettinad cuisine, Kareem’s brings the signature dishes of the South Indian region.

April 26, 2017, Abu Dhabi: Visit Kareem’s, a top Indian restaurant in the capital, to explore the culinary world of the South Indian region of Chettinad from May 4 to 6, 2017.

The three-day food festival, hosted from 6.30pm until 10.30pm, includes a lavish buffet featuring some of the most popular Chettinad dishes prepared with the signature Kareem’s touch.

Available for just AED 69 per person, the spread will feature some of the spiciest and most aromatic dishes in India, including Mutton Chukka (marinated lamb smeared in masala) and Chettinad Chicken (succulent chicken simmered in a medley of roasted spices and coconut). The traditional dessert Paal Payasam made with milk, rice, nuts and cardamom is a highlight of the meal.

Located on the first floor of Ramada Hotel Abu Dhabi on Mina Street, Kareem’s welcomes residents and tourists in Abu Dhabi to a setting that reflects a typical Tamil Nadu village with live cooking stations and sacks of spices on display. The venue will be decorated with flowers and staff members will wear traditional South-Indian attire while taking guests on the gastronomic adventure.

Rajesh Devadas, Executive Chef at Ramada Hotel Abu Dhabi said: “The traditional cuisine of Tamil Nadu’s Chettiar community has a rich culinary tradition. Often remembered for being spicy, these dishes are in reality a complex blend of well-balanced flavours.”

While the preparation and presentation is simple, Chettinad cuisine is known for the complexity of its base often made with a combination of tomatoes, chillies, freshly ground spices, coconut, ginger and garlic.

Other unique characteristics of this cuisine is the use of a boiled egg as garnish, the use of sun-dried vegetables and meats, and the jar of buttermilk on the side which helps tone down the heat.
