The rumors are spreading that the much awaited international event the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix on Yas Island be affected due to Islamic New Year from Saturday 2 November at 7.30pm until Sunday 3 November at 7.30pm. According to our sources the events organizers have known since as early as September about the holiday, but were hoping that the Grand Prix would be given a special consideration.
Due to the fact that the world famous race is an internationally renowned event it could potentially be exempt from the local law. There is a lot of confusion surrounding the matter with less than a week to go until the chequered flag with even hoteliers still in the dark about the situation. A spokeswoman for the Crowne Plaza on Yas Island told Ahlan!: “We’re waiting to hear. The rumour has been going around like wild fire.” As well as the Formula 1 action, the parties and clubs hosting many international celebrities and thousands of revellers heading to the island could be affected. Jay Z’s big stage performance will go ahead as planned on Friday evening, but the post-race Muse concert at du Arena will most certainly need to pay close attention to the outcome of the ruling.
Let’s hope that nothing unpleasant happens before Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix. We, along with all the citizens of UAE are super excited about the event. Stay tuned to this website. We’ll keep you updated about the event.
