Indian subcontinent’s fashion elite will be showcasing coveted seasonal collections at the exclusive one-day event
With Ramadan and Eid celebrations fast approaching, Dubai’s most fashion-conscious will be on the lookout for some stylish new wardrobe additions. Luckily, both up-and-coming designers and seasoned industry heavyweights will be showcasing their latest fashion and accessories’ collections at next month’s Ramadan Souk – a unique collaboration between fashion, glamour and lifestyle exhibition, SoPritti, and leading, multi-brand Pakistani fashion store, Ensemble Dubai.
Flying in from both India and Pakistan, there are a number of hot tickets on this year’s roster, all of who will be in attendance at the event themselves. Here are just five of the top names to look out for…
Rimple & Harpreet Narula
A regular fixture at India Couture Week and the go-to label of choice for some of the country’s most prolific brides, expect Rimple and Harpeet Narula’s signature flair for refined luxury and flamboyant silhouettes to be out in full force at the Ramadan Souk. The couple have even been snapped up by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently to work on the costumes for his period drama, Padmavati, so you know you’re in good hands.
Deepak Perwani
An actor-turned-fashion-designer, Perwani’s use of vibrant colours and simple feminine cuts has garnered him six Lux Style Awards and two MTV style guru awards over the years. Putting a contemporary spin on traditional Pakistani dress, the Karachi-based designer has styled an impressive number of Bollywood stars including veteran actress Shabana Azmi and her husband Javed Akhtar.
Jewels by Queenie
What do Naomi Campbell, Oprah Winfrey, Priyanka Chopra and Kim Kardashian all have in common? They’ve all been accessorized by former Miss India Queenie Singh. The accessory designer of choice for Bollywood’s royalty, her old style decedent jewels will see you through well beyond the Holy Month.
Nomi Ansari
See for yourself why Nomi Ansari is dubbed The King of Colours as he injects his youthful charm and vibrant colour combinations into next month’s souk. While Nomi is stocked all over the world, his most lucrative market is here in the UAE, so lucky fans should get in line.
Sania Mastakiya
The go-to designer for those looking to stand out from the crowd, Sania’s digital prints, minimalistic silhouettes and feminine embellishments have made her quite the household name in Pakistani fashion. Opt for loose-fitting maxi-dresses and elegant cover-ups to see you through the Holy Month.
Born from a collaboration between SoPritti and Ensemble Dubai, the first-ever Ramadan Souk brings together a carefully-curated selection of over 50 Indian and Pakistani designers selling both ready-to-wear and accessories collections all under one roof.
