Founded in 2014 by Emirati/Danish designer Latifa Al Gurg – Twisted Roots is contemporary womenswear label inspired by travel. Tucked away in Al Quoz, Dubai, the studio acts as the brands production house and showroom space, whereby all their pieces are handmade by a talented team of pattern cutters and seamstresses.
“Born to a Danish Mother and an Emirati Father, Twisted Roots was my brainchild as I was deeply inspired by the different cities and styles across the globe. My inspirations from different cultures and heritages can be well drawn by the aesthetics of each collection we launch into the market”, notes Latifa. She added, “While my Danish legacy brings out the linear, minimalistic and layered
silhouettes, the modest aesthetic and luxurious dressing comes from Emirati culture.” hence the name Twisted Roots.
Twisted Roots is a leading brand in contemporary women’s wear inspired by travel, creating comfortable and innovative clothing for women on-the-go, launching their spring/summer 2017 Savannah Collection in February 2017 across the Middle East in select retailers including BeYou, Ush Boutique and House of Fraser.
The brands expansion on consistency in collections, Twisted Roots has drawn attention from leading retailers and is now available at Dubai’s largest department store Robinsons. Twisted Roots has earned the attention of international retailers such as Fenwick’s London who will stock the collection from the 10th of July.
The SS/17 collection holds true to the Twisted Roots tradition of designing functional, flexible and layered pieces that are easy to mix and match, featuring signature shapes and styles, that pack small and wear beautifully: button-down shirts, side-strap detailing, delicate silk camisoles, sleeveless cardigans ideal for layering, elegant tunics and belted safari style jackets.
