It doesn’t matter how big celebrity you have become when it comes to money. Someone has rightly quoted that “Greed for money has no end”, You’ll be surprised to hear that, Mike Tyson, the renowned boxer of the world has demanded $80,000 (Dhs293,000) for all TV interviews.
Despite appearing in the successful Hangover movie trilogy and having made millions from his boxing career, Mike Tyson ended up bankrupt. The former heavyweight champion of the world is now demanding a massive $80,000 (Dhs293,000) for all TV interviews when he comes to Dubai in November.
Iron Mike will appear on stage at Dubai World Trade Centre to star in his one man show about his troubled life and career, The Undisputed Truth. According to 7 Days In Dubai, a producer from a UAE TV station was gobsmacked when told that a five minute talk with Tyson would cost the huge amount. The producer told the website: “It’s crazy, I’ve had interviews with the likes of Tiger Woods and Roger Federer, who never asked for a penny. Why’s this man so special?”
However, according to Mac S Far, the CEO of the event organizer Alchemy Project, all TV stations that were not official sponsors of the event would be charged up to $300,000 (Dhs1.1million) to chat with Tyson. Far claims that one international station is paying over $150,000 (Dhs550,000) for an interview with the former multi-millionaire. Tyson is reportedly desperate to make some money after he admitted back in 2010 that he was bankrupt after spending his fortune on illegal substances and expensive jewellery. Just last month the 47-year-old confessed to The Today Show that he was “on the verge of dying” from years of substance abuse.
If you are a Mike Tyson fan you surely would have been hurt after reading this piece highlighting the greed for money. Well, no one refuses money particularly when it’s $80,000 (Dhs293,000) and that too in just 5 minutes.
