To cater to an emerging cohort of “confident and successful women,” the luxury car maker Bentley has introduced a handbag collection.
Featuring two models, The Barnato and The Continental, the bags are meant to reflect what Bentley considers its essential values: “an exquisite design aesthetic, highly skilled craftsmanship, attention to detail and dynamic performance.”
The bag project was driven, if you’ll excuse the pun, by the Bentley board member Ariane Reinhart.
The Barnato is named after Diana Barnato, the socialite daughter of Woolf Barnato, one of the original “Bentley Boys”‘ – a group of 1920s wealthy British motor enthusiasts – and a chairman of the company.
The Continental is named for one of Bentley’s famed model lines.
This limited edition collection comprises 160 bags globally – 80 of each style – in four colours. Each will contain a metal plaque displaying its individual number in the series. There will also be the option to have this personalised to the owner and their car.
The Bentley Handbag Collection will be available from the end of October 2013 from the two Bentley dealerships in Dubai, located in the Marina and Deira.
This collection is to expand in 2014 to include new models.
