Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, 25 October 2017: The wait is finally over as local motorsport returns to the home of the FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX for the highly anticipated Yas Racing Series first round.
Making its return to Yas Marina Circuit for a fourth consecutive season will be the TRD 86 Cup. The Circuit’s single-make championship, features a mix of professional and amateur drivers competing head to head for a place on the podium across two separate categories – Gold and Silver – in the first of six competitive rounds that will see the TRD 86 Cup winner crowned in March next year.
Fighting to put points on the leader board early will be 2016-17 champion Karim Al Azhari. The 2017-18 season will also see the return of some familiar faces fighting for the top spot as well as the addition of some new drivers wanting to make their mark.
Commenting on the return of Yas Racing Series, Saud Al Qaydi Yas Motor Racing Club Manager, said: “We are delighted to see the return of Yas Racing Series for its fourth consecutive year and with that comes ever more local motorsport, providing a springboard for regional drivers and a superb spectacle for enthusiasts.”

Additionally, spectators will be able to take in all the action as the drivers compete for opening series points in the Formula Gulf Academy, Radical Middle East Cup and NGK Racing Series.

Guests to the Circuit can also take advantage of a fantastic Friday Brunch package in the exclusive Paddock Suites on Friday 27 October. This great value deal allows racing fans to indulge in the electric atmosphere and sample the delights of the Belgian Café Brunch, all while providing spectacular views of all the racing action. There will also be live entertainment from 13:00pm.
Also included in the Friday Brunch will be the first pit lane walk of the 2017-18 season where brunch-goers will be able to get up close and personal with the drivers and their finely tuned machines as well as see the iconic F1 ® Circuit first hand ahead of the final race of the 2017 season, which will take place next month.
The three-hour brunch can be enjoyed from 12:00noon, and the three-hour countdown only starts when you arrive. Guests can enjoy free-flowing beverages and a selection of dining options from the à la carte menu (AED295 with grape, hops and cocktails/ AED195 soft drinks). The brunch is also child-friendly and for each full paying adult, one child under 12 can dine for free. The last sitting for brunch will be 5:00pm.
With a general admission ticket for the weekend’s packed schedule of events costing only AED25 per person, its great value for all members of the family. Racing begins at 10:00am on Friday.
