Shahista is serving famous Afghan food in Garhoud area Dubai.
Afghanistan’s varied topography allows for many different crops, and its cuisine is built on the basics of wheat, maize, barley and rice. Dairy products, nuts and dry fruits and meat form the remainder.
Mouth watering menu at Shahista includes:
For starters, try such delicacies as bolani, turnovers filled with leek and herbs, or pakowra, crisply fried chopped vegetables that are akin to onion bajji or tempura.
Mains are predominantly chicken and meat, tenderly spiced with garam masala, saffron, cinnamon, cloves, chillis and black pepper. Expect plenty of kebabs, but instead of biryani or kepsa, the restaurant does a Qabulli pallaw, sautéed lamb baked with basmati rice topped with carrots and raisins and Iranian-style Zarishk pallaw or jewel rice, with its signature tart red berries.
Vegetarians can try ashak, a leek and spring onion dumpling dish prepared with yogurt and signature sauces, and borani bonjan; stewed eggplants cooked with onions, tomatoes and herbs, topped with yogurt.
Shahista is an authentic afghan restaurant in Dubai, with reasonable price and quality food.
