Sheikha Madiyah Al Sharqi, daughter of Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, became the first Emirati Fashion Designer to be stocked by the renowned online fashion store Moda Operandi.
Madiyah Al Sharqi grew up immersed in high fashion and from early age she fell in love with design process. Her collection comprised varieties of modest high-necked gowns, ethereal off-the-shoulder pieces, crystal-embellished numbers and sheer paneled dresses.
While drawing inspiration from such distinct eras may seem odd, it is characteristic of Sheikha Madiyah’s approach. She admits that she use Marie Antoinette as a constant muse and every season try to place her into different eras.
Sheikha Madiyah describes her own personal style as a mixture between uber feminine and minimalism and admits that this has significantly influenced her previous collections. She also tells that feminine fabrics and colours combined with minimalistic silhouettes is how many would describe her brand. Unsurprising, perhaps, since one of Sheikha Madiyah’s own favorite designers is Phoebe Philo, the creative director of Céline, who has feminine minimalism down to a tee.
