Lovers of Urdu Music and poetry will get an opportunity to listen to famous Pakistani singer Tina Sani singing poetry by iconic poets, Rumi, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Faiz Ahmed Faiz at a musical evening organised in Dubai.
The tribute to the three poets will take place at Meydan IMAX, Dubai on September 27, 2013
Tina Sani began her journey in music in 1979 by initiating formal training in Indian classical music with Ustad Nizamuddin Khan Sahib son of Ustad Ramzan Khan Sahib of Delhi gharana and later on with Ustad Chand Amrohvi.
Tina Sani brings with her, her own passion for knowledge and understanding of Urdu poetry; this permits her to effectively convey the delicate nuances, emotions and moods of a ghazal or a nazm across to her audience.
In recognition of her valuable contribution to music spanning over nearly 3 decades, Tina Sani was conferred upon the highest civilian award in Pakistan, the President’s Pride of Performance, in 2004.
During the event Tina will recite her recording of Movlana Jalaludin Rumi’s Mathnavi in Urdu, to bring the works of this powerful 12th century Sufi-saint to those who do not understand Persian.
Next up is a recitation of Allama Iqbal’s famous piece, a lament to God “Shikwa, Jawab-e-Shikwa”.Tina will sing one part and the other part will be recited by Adeel Hashmi. It is an adaptation of “Shikwa Jawab-e-Shikwa” widely appreciated by experts of Urdu poetry and music around the world.
Finally Tina will pay tribute to Fais Ahmad Faiz who celebrated his 100th year in 2011 and this celebration of his poetry was carried on by Tina who recited his works in both Pakistan and India.
The event Boulevard One will take part at the IMAZ in Meydan from 7pm to 8pm on September 27,2013.
