Carved out of a 500kg solid block of gold, Lamborghini Aventador, the latest lavish creation from Italian luxury sports car maker Lamborghini has gone on sale for $7.3m.
The gold Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 was built in Germany by Robert Wilhelm Gulpen, who has been creating luxury car models from precious metals and stones for the past 12 years at his company RGE Robert Gulpen Engineering.
This is the first time that the opulent model has been on display outside of Europe. Currently showcased at the Dubai showroom, it will head to Abu Dhabi by the end of September and finally to the Dubai International Motor Show in November, before embarking on a world tour.
The most precious and most expensive car in the world is set to be auctioned to the public. However, if a buyer wishes to make a bid upfront, Gulpen is willing to accept $7.3m. Otherwise, it will be sold for a minimum of $7.5m at a well-known auction house.
Of that sum, $650,000 will go to charity.
Lamborghini Aventador is built on a carbon-fiber base which is then covered with solid gold. The headlights are encrusted with diamonds, and each seat will have 700 precious stones woven into the fabric. The total value of the material is $2.6m and the total weight of the carved gold 25kg.
Lamborghini Aventador will secure four entries into the Guinness Book of World Records for being the world’s most expensive model car in the world, the most secure showcase made from bulletproof glass, the world’s most luxurious logo and the only car to be built out of a 500kg block of solid gold.
