By the next year, Dubai will be home to hundreds of diversified crocodiles. The construction of Dubai Crocodile Park will begin next month. The project will serve for dual purposes i.e. tourism and educational. The regions first Crocodile park will enthrall the audience especially residents, visitors and children. This has added another important feature in the tourism industry.
In one year, crocodiles including the Nile crocodile which is the second largest reptile in the world, will move in to the Dubai. Crocodiles would be imported from Madagascar. The park will be home to hundreds of crocodiles, and the Dubai Crocodile Park will be completed by the end of 2016, the civic body said in a media statement.
The 20,000 square meters Crocodile Park will be built 10 km from Dubai Airport near Mushrif Park, and close to the upcoming projects Dubai Safari and the Birds and Pets Market.
It will be accessible from Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road, Tripoli Street and Al Khawaneej.
It has been designed to encourage conservation and adhere to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (Cites), he said, and has been modeled on crocodile parks in France.
Apart from tourism, Dubai Crocodile Park will also cater the educational needs. The visitors will be able to discover the different stages of crocodiles’ life such as egg laying, hatching, growing, breeding, family life etc and also see the reptiles while relaxing, crawling, swimming and diving.
The project would serve both as an amusement park and an educational facility. Municipality seeks to build a new world tourist attraction in the emirate of Dubai through partnership with foreign investors. They aim to construct a world leading class of ‘Crocodile Park’ catering tourism needs. Not only tourist landmark, this will also serve as an environmental reserve for the protection and conservation of aquatic reptiles.
